PRIVACY POLICY
Last Updated: September 26, 2026
Trust the Tribe LLC, a limited liability company organized under the laws of the State of Delaware ("Trust the Tribe," "we," "us," or "our"), operates the Trust the Tribe beta application and website (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the Service, and the choices you have about that information. This Privacy Policy is part of, and is incorporated into, our Beta Terms of Use.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By creating an account or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with our practices, please do not use the Service.
1. WHO WE ARE AND WHAT THIS POLICY COVERS
Trust the Tribe is a community where parents share the products they have purchased and recommend, discover products recommended by other parents like them, and shop through links to third-party retailers. This Privacy Policy applies to information we collect through the Service, through email and other communications with us, and from third parties as described below.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third-party retailers, affiliate networks, sign-in providers, or other websites and services that you may reach through the Service. Those third parties have their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
The Service is intended for users located in the United States who are at least 18 years old.
2. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We collect information in three ways: information you provide to us, information we collect automatically when you use the Service, and information we receive from third parties.
Information you provide. You provide information to us when you create an account, build your profile, share products, and interact with the community, including:
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password, or the information made available by the third-party sign-in service you choose (such as Google), which may include your name, email address, and profile picture.
- Profile information. You may choose to add a profile picture, your name, birthday, location, gender, whether you are a parent, the number of children in your household, and the month and year each child was born. We do not ask for your children's names. Your profile settings let you decide whether certain of these details are shown to other users.
- Recommendations and other content. We collect the products you share, the links you add, the photos you upload (for example, a photo of a product), the reasons you give for recommending a product, the requests for recommendations you send to the community, your saves, shares, and comments, and any suggested content generated by the Service that you choose to approve.
- Messages. We collect the messages you exchange with other users through the Service's chat features.
- Invitations and follows. If you invite someone to join the Service or follow another user, we collect the email address you enter.
- Imported purchase information. If you choose to connect your Google account to import your purchases, we collect information about products you have purchased from your order confirmation emails, such as the product name, retailer, and purchase date. We collect this information only with your authorization and use it only as described in Section 4.
- Communications with us. If you contact us for support, give us feedback, or respond to a survey, we collect the information you include in those communications.
Information we collect automatically. When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect:
- Usage information. Information about how you use the Service, including the products you view, search for, save, share, or recommend; the retailer links you click; the users you follow; the requests you respond to; and the time, frequency, and duration of your activity.
- Device and technical information. Your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, referring URLs, and similar technical information.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Information collected through cookies, local storage, pixels, and similar technologies that keep you signed in, remember your preferences, and help us understand how the Service is used. See Section 7 for more information.
Information from third parties. We may receive information about you from:
- Sign-in services. If you sign in with Google, we receive the account information that Google makes available to us in accordance with the permissions you grant.
- Affiliate networks and retailers. When a purchase is made after a click on a retailer link, the retailer or affiliate network may report to us that a purchase occurred and the commission earned. This information is used to operate and measure our affiliate program and generally does not identify you.
- Other users. We receive information about you when other users interact with you on the Service, for example when they invite you, follow you, save or share your recommendations, or send you a message.
3. INFORMATION ABOUT CHILDREN
The Service is designed for parents and other adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and we do not allow children to create accounts. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at the address in Section 14 and we will delete it.
As part of your profile, you may choose to tell us the number of children in your household and the month and year each child was born. We use this information only to personalize the recommendations you see (for example, to show you products that other parents of children of a similar age have shared) and, if you choose to make it visible, to display an age range on your profile so that other parents know whose recommendations they are reading. We do not collect children's names or photos through profile fields, and we ask that you do not include identifiable images of children who are not your own in any content you post.
4. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the Service, including creating and managing your account, displaying your recommendations to the community, enabling you to follow, invite, and message other users, and responding to your requests.
- Personalize your experience, including curating the products and recommendations you see based on your location, the ages of your children, the users you follow, and your activity on the Service.
- Generate suggestions, including using artificial intelligence tools to identify products from photos you upload, find matching retailer links, and draft the reasons for a recommendation for you to review and approve.
- Communicate with you, including by sending emails about requests for recommendations from other members of the community, activity relating to your recommendations, messages, Service updates, security alerts, and administrative notices. We may also send you marketing communications, which you can opt out of at any time.
- Send invitations on your behalf when you invite someone to join the Service.
- Operate our affiliate program, including attributing purchases to links on the Service and measuring the performance of those links.
- Analyze and improve the Service, including understanding how users engage with the Service, measuring the impact of recommendations, testing new features, and fixing problems.
- Create Aggregated Data about shopping trends, product preferences, and the reasons parents recommend products, as described in Section 5.
- Protect the Service and our users, including detecting fake accounts, fraud, spam, and abuse, enforcing our Beta Terms of Use, and protecting the rights, property, and safety of Trust the Tribe, our users, and the public.
- Comply with law, including responding to lawful requests and legal process, and as otherwise required by applicable law.
Google user data. If you connect your Google account to import your purchases, we access your Gmail data only to identify order confirmation emails and to extract information about the products you purchased. We use that information only to display your purchases to you, to let you share them as recommendations if you choose, and to personalize your experience. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your consent, for security purposes, to comply with law, or as part of aggregated internal operations. Trust the Tribe's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Artificial intelligence. We use third-party artificial intelligence tools to power features such as product recognition and suggested recommendation text. The information we send to those tools is limited to what is needed to provide the feature, such as a product photo or the name of a product. Our providers are not permitted to use that information to train their models, and we do not use your personal information to train large language models.
5. AGGREGATED AND DE-IDENTIFIED DATA
We may aggregate, de-identify, or anonymize the information we collect so that it no longer identifies you or any other individual ("Aggregated Data"). For example, we may analyze which products parents of three-year-olds in a particular area tend to recommend, and the reasons they give.
We may use Aggregated Data for any purpose, including to develop trend reports, consumer insights, and data products that we share with or license to brands, retailers, and other business partners. Aggregated Data never includes your name, email address, photos, messages, or other information that identifies you, and we do not attempt to re-identify it. When we share Aggregated Data with third parties, we require them to agree not to attempt to re-identify any individual.
6. HOW WE SHARE INFORMATION
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share personal information only in the following circumstances:
- With other users. The Service is a community. Your name, profile picture, and the profile details you choose to make visible (such as your location and the age range of your children), together with your recommendations, photos, reasons, requests, saves, shares, comments, and impact metrics, are visible to other users of the Service. Messages you send are visible to their recipients. Please think carefully about what you share.
- With service providers. We share information with vendors that help us operate the Service, such as hosting and database providers, authentication providers, email delivery services, analytics providers, artificial intelligence and image recognition providers, and customer support tools. These providers may use your information only to perform services for us and are required to protect it.
- With affiliate networks and retailers. When you click a retailer link, you leave the Service, and the retailer (and any affiliate network that manages the link) will collect information about your visit and any purchase under its own privacy policy. The link may include a code that identifies Trust the Tribe as the referring source; it does not include your name or contact information.
- With Google. If you sign in with Google or connect your Google account, information is exchanged with Google in accordance with the permissions you grant and Google's privacy policy.
- In connection with a business transaction. If Trust the Tribe is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Privacy Policy. Google user data will be transferred in that situation only with your explicit prior consent, as required by Google's policies.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or a governmental request; to enforce our Beta Terms of Use; to detect and address fraud, security, or technical issues; or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Trust the Tribe, our users, or others.
- With your consent. We may share information for other purposes with your consent or at your direction.
- Aggregated Data. We share Aggregated Data as described in Section 5.
7. COOKIES AND ANALYTICS
We use cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the Service to function (for example, to keep you signed in) and analytics technologies that help us understand how the Service is used and how it performs. We do not currently use cookies or similar technologies to serve you third-party advertising or to track you across unrelated websites. If we introduce advertising on the Service in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices and opt-out choices required by applicable law before doing so.
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, some features of the Service may not work properly. We treat opt-out preference signals, such as the Global Privacy Control, as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information to the extent required by applicable law.
8. YOUR CHOICES
- Profile visibility. You control which optional profile details you provide and, for certain fields, whether they are shown to other users. You can update or remove them at any time in your profile settings.
- Email preferences. You can opt out of non-essential emails, such as requests for recommendations and marketing messages, through your account settings or the unsubscribe link in those emails. We will still send you administrative and security messages about your account.
- Connected accounts. You can disconnect your Google account at any time through your account settings or through your Google Account permissions page. Disconnecting stops future imports; information already imported remains in your account until you delete it.
- Your content. You can edit or delete the recommendations, photos, and other content you have posted. Content that other users have already saved or shared, and information included in Aggregated Data, may remain available.
- Account deletion. You can request deletion of your account by contacting us at the address in Section 14. We will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we need to retain it as described in Section 10.
9. YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under state privacy laws with respect to your personal information, including the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and access it.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information you have provided to us.
- Obtain a portable copy of your personal information.
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, the sharing or processing of personal information for targeted advertising, and certain profiling. As described above, Trust the Tribe does not currently sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- Appeal a decision we make regarding your request.
To exercise these rights, contact us at the address in Section 14. We will verify your request by confirming that you control the email address associated with your account and may ask for additional information where necessary. You may also authorize an agent to make a request on your behalf, in which case we may require proof of the agent's authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Not all of these rights apply in every state, and some state privacy laws apply only to businesses that process personal information above certain thresholds. We will nonetheless make good-faith efforts to honor requests from all of our users.
California residents. California law requires us to disclose the categories of personal information we collect, which are described in Section 2 and include identifiers, profile and demographic information, commercial information, internet and other network activity, general location information, photos, and inferences drawn from that information; the purposes for which we use it, which are described in Section 4; and whether we sell or share personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
10. DATA RETENTION
We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except that we may retain information as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, maintain the security of the Service, or as part of Aggregated Data.
Google user data imported into the Service is retained only as long as needed to provide the import feature and is deleted when you delete the imported items or your account.
11. SECURITY
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit, access controls, and secure hosting providers. However, no method of transmission over the internet or of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for the activity that occurs under your account. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
12. USERS OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES
The Service is operated from the United States and is intended for users located in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those of your jurisdiction.
13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the Service before the changes take effect, and we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect means that you accept the updated Privacy Policy.
